Dao De Jing 16

Getting all the way to the utmost of emptiness, preserving single-minded devotion to stillness.

Myriad phenomena simultaneously arise, and I use this to contemplate the way retracing steps back to earlier states is a returning to points of renewal and restoration.

In all instances of these many many phenomena, each one may be retraced back to and returned to the original state at its root.

Returning back to the original root is "stillness" - this means retracing back and returning to the heaven appointed mandate of destiny.

Returning to destiny is "constant persistence" - mastery over constant persistence is "luminosity".

Not mastering constant persistence, carelessly taking on inauspiciousness.

Mastering constant persistence, receptivity and tolerance. Receptive and tolerant, then impartial. Impartial, then intermediating between heaven and earth. Intermediating between heaven and earth, then heavenly. Heavenly, then of dao. Of dao, then long lasting. Dissolving and taking possession over the bodily container unscathed.
